HERE ARE SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED UTVcross QUESTIONS:

1.  DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MEMBERSHIP TO RACE THE X FEST AT MILESTONE RANCH?

NO.  IF YOU ARE COMING FOR REGULAR PRACTICE THEN YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP BUT IF YOU ARE COMING JUST ON RACE DAY THEN YOU WILL NOT NEED TO BUY A MEMBERSHIP. 


2.  WHAT TRACK WILL WE RACE ON?

WE WILL BE RACING ON THE TRACK ON THE WEST SIDE OF MILESTONE RANCH.  WHEN YOU ENTER THE FACILITY IT WILL BE THE TRACK ON THE IMMEDIATE RIGHT.

UTVcross : Rules and Race Format
UTVcross Rules (short version)

UTVRA

 

UTVRA is a united group of UTV racers working to enhance the sport through defining the parameters of racing and supporting the promoters.

 

Modified Rules discussion:

A.   Engine

1.      OEM Cases

2.      800cc Maximum

3.      Engine case must match manufacture of chassis and body

B.   CVT System

1.  Completely open CVT System

C.   Fuel Cells

1.      Mandatory Fuel Cell required

a.       Roll-over Valve

b.       Baffling

c.       Must have a bladder

2.      Two Mounting Straps required for mounting

3.      SFI Certified is recommended

Note:  No plastic tanks without a metal cover

D.   Shocks

1.      One shock per corner

a.       Bypasses are okay but only one stanction per corner

2.  Solid bump stops only

E.   Seating

1.      Two seats required

2.      Driver and passenger seats must be interchangeable

F.    Four Wheel Drive

1.      Must retain four wheel drive system in its entirety and be in working order

Note:  Promoters many specify if they will NOT require the four wheel drive system well in advance of race and/or series

G.  Weight Minimum

1.      1200 lbs

H.   Tube Chassis

1.      Must maintain all upper and lower pivot points  (any aftermarket LT kit can be used)

2.      Must maintain factory distances between front and rear a-arms mounts

3.      Must maintain the UTV appearance, tube chassis are allowed for safety and longevity of the vehicle/chassis, not for a performance advantage

I.       Body

1.      Must maintain body type of chassis/engine that is raced

2.      Bed sides are okay

Super Stock Discussion

A.   Engine

1.      Completely stock

a.      Pipes are okay

b.      Performance air clearers are okay

B.   CVT System

1.      Open but must maintain factory cover

C.   Steering Rack

1.      Must retain stock steering rack

a.      Tie rods can be replaced/upgraded

b.      Tie rod ends can be replaced/upgraded

D.   Suspension

1.      Stock A-arms

a.      Gusseting is okay

E.   Shocks

1.      Aftermarket shocks allowed

2.      Must maintain factory mounting provisions

F.    Spindles

1.      Stock

a.      Gusseting is okay

G.  Seating

1.      Two seats required

2.      Driver and passenger seats must be interchangeable

H.   Fuel Cell

1.      Fuel cells recommended

2.      Stock tank okay but with protection from side impacts

a.       Cover filler cap and/or bar

I.       Body

1.      Must maintain body type of chassis/engine that is raced

2.      Bed sides are okay

 

Stock Class Discussion

A.   All Stock

B.   Cage

1.      Gussets are recommended if using stock cage

2.      If using stock cage – must not remove any part of the factory cage

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

General Discussion (all classes)

A.   Safety

1.  Helmets mandatory

3.      Goggles or full face helmet required

4.      Four point harnesses required, five point recommended

5.      Neck braces required

6.      Driving suits required

7.      Roof required

8.      Doors

9.      Approved window nets (no construction webbing)

10. Fire extinguisher

a.       1 lb is okay

11. Front and rear bumpers

C.    Nerf Bars

1.       Nerf bars extend out as far as your outer most part of your rear tires. 

Note:  Many accidents and costly repairs due to the inherent bumping we do in this type of racing.  This will keep a great deal of safety in the sport as well as keeping costs down on repairs i.e. axles and general repairs due to catapulting and flipping.

D.   Classes

1.      Short course classes

a.       Stock Class

b.      Super Stock

c.       Modified Class

Note:  Three classes at this time to keep the field full, let’s walk before we run!

E.   Rule Enforcement

1.  All rules MUST be enforced by promoters to keep things fair and keep this sport moving in the right direction.
